Foreword:

Anthropology is among the modern sciences that has seen considerable advances today—a science of which, however, no trace is presently to be found in Iranian universities and the scholarly community. Only in recent years have some occasionally claimed to be "anthropologists," though the boot is on the other foot. Yet the situation in our country has not always been thus, and Iran's National Documents bear witness to this.
