یخبندان بزرگ و کوچک

بسیاری از فعالین این حوزه، نمی‌توانند دوران یخبندان بزرگ و کوچک (دریاس) را از یکدیگر تفکیک نمایند. بنابراین ادعا می‌کنند که یخبندان مثلا از ۱۸ تا ۱۲ هزار سال پیش ادامه داشته و سپس به پایان رسیده است!

 

یخبندان چهارم زمین، ۲۰ هزار سال پیش آغاز و در ۱۷ هزار سال پیش به پایان رسید. در این دوره، میانگین دمای هوای زمین به کمتر از ۶- درجه رسید. سپس دما بالا رفت و یخبندان پایان یافت.اما در حدود ۱۲۹۰۰ سال پیش، برخورد و انفجار یک ستارهء دنباله‌دار به جوّ فراز مکزیک، اثرات درازمدت مخربی به ویژه در نیمکره شمالی بر جای گذاشت.

نیروی کوریولیس، غبار حاصل از این برخورد عظیم جوّی را با خود در نیمکره شمالی به سوی شرق برد و از اروپا تا فلات ایران و چین را تحت تاثیر قرار داد.میانگین دمای هوا که به ۲- درجه رسیده بود، دوباره یک درجه افت کرد و یخبندان کوچک یا یانگر دریاس آغاز شد. این روند، حدود بیش از ۱۰۰۰ سال طول کشید و به شکل عجیبی، طی ۵۰ سال، میانگین دما دوباره صعودی شد.

در کل و طی ۱۵۰۰ سال، ماموت‌ها، کرگدن‌های پشمالو، دندان‌شمشیری‌ها و آخرین جمعیت از نئاندرتال‌ها نابود شدند.

But about 12,900 years ago, a comet struck and exploded in the atmosphere above Mexico, leaving long-term, devastating effects, especially in the Northern Hemisphere. The Coriolis force carried the dust from this massive atmospheric collision eastward in the Northern Hemisphere, affecting everything from Europe to the Iranian plateau and China.

The average temperature, which had reached -2 ​​degrees Celsius, dropped another degree and the Little Ice Age, or Younger Dryas, began. This process lasted for about 1,000 years, and strangely, within 50 years, the average temperature rose again. In total, within 1,500 years, mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses, saber-toothed cats, and the last population of Neanderthals were extinct.
